Daan van Golden

Dutch, 1936 - 2017

Being born in Rotterdam in 9136, Daan van Golden became one of the importnat artists of DUtch art cene and art history. From 1954 to 1959 he took evening courses at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam, now the Willem de Kooning Academy, in the painting department. Here he also took classes in graphic design and design. In his early work, Daan van Golden (Rotterdam, 1936) makes expressive and abstract canvases, painted in black and white. The turnaround came when he made a trip to Japan in 1962. From that moment on, the motifs of the everyday become the starting point for Van Golden's paintings.
